5th Grade Soccer Tournament
The 5th grade East Aurora Co-ed Soccer Tournament was held Saturday, Oct. 19th from 9:00am – 4:00pm at the East Aurora High School athletic fields. Over 250 kids from 10 elementary schools competed on 8 soccer fields for the prized tournament trophy. The boys’ championship game was a nail biter with a penalty kick determining the final score. Both boys and girls teams from Gates Elementary School took home the winning trophies. Nike provided soccer balls for all team players. Pre-tournament, Triple Threat met with team coaches to develop a service project plan as part of the soccer ball distribution. Coaches chose local service projects for athletes who would receive the soccer balls. The spirit caught on as athletes engaged in community and school service projects. One coach reported that kids who were not even on the soccer team asked to participate in the service project. Thanks Nike and East Aurora coaches! And thanks to PowerBar (R) for the energy boost provided through their donation of Triple Threat (R) Bars for the tournament.
