East Aurora 5th Grade Softball Tournament
Triple Threat partnered once again with Aurora School District 131 to sponsor the 5th grade East Aurora Boys and Girls Softball Tournament Saturday, May 9th from 9:00am – 3:00pm. The day started off cloudy, windy and cool, but that didn’t daunt Triple Threat volunteers or East Aurora athletes. Spirits were high as teams began to arrive. Triple Threat volunteers covered team check-in, crafts, games and prizes, face painting and fun tattoos and served as game umpires and score keepers. Even Miss Illinois contestants volunteered for the day, interacting with East Aurora youth.
Teams from 10 elementary schools of East Aurora competed for the coveted tournament trophy. Crowds cheered as athletes gave their best. And after some fierce competition between Rollins and Oak Park, it was Oak Park that turned it upside down, emerging as the softball championship team. The trophy held special meaning for the team as it was the first time Oak Park had ever won the softball championship. Smiling victoriously they donned their new t-shirts provided by Triple Threat sponsor, Nike, Inc. And holding their trophy, the young athletes from Oak Park and their coaches proudly posed for their 2009 softball championship photo.
