Roger Powell Jr. at Jericho Circle

On August 8, RPJ Ministries Varsity Team led a basketball camp for students at Jericho Circle’s Westwood Park. The camp was a new addition to this year’s annual Leadership Camp hosted at Calvary Church by University of Illinois basketball superstar Roger Powell Jr. The Varsity Team coached 40 urban youth through a variety of athletic drills and activities.Students were also introduced to Aurora’s top basketball coaches including AAU’s “Aurora Elite” Coaches Doug Lambert, Blaine Roatch, and Doug Lambert Jr., as well as “Aurora Flight” Coach Terry Miller. East Aurora HS Coach Tyrone Savage, and many other star player/coaches including Dameon Mason and Jamal Blackman.

Roger Powell Jr. challenged youth in their choices and potential as he spoke on the topics of Leadership and Integrity. The camp closed with Roger Powell Jr. modeling his message as together his team and resident athletes took a walk through the community picking up papers and trash to give Jericho Circle a fresh look.
