Celebrate Our Children is days away!

You only need two hands to count the number of days until one of Triple Threat’s biggest celebrations of the year.

On Saturday, August 14^th, from 12 – 4pm, Triple Threat will team up with the City of Aurora, area churches, non-profits and volunteers to offer the annual urban festival for youth called Celebrate our Children. Last year, about 2,000 people filed into East Aurora’s McCarty Park to enjoy the free event that features live entertainment and special attractions, rides, carnival games, prizes, community booths and more. Plan now to volunteer and join the fun.

Here’s a schedule of performances:

12 p.m. — Welcome and Opening Ceremony

12:15 p.m. — Singer Mark Leatham

12:45 p.m. — Hip Hop ConnXion Dance Group

1:30 p.m. — Merry Hearts Clowns

2 p.m. — Magician David Shareef

2:45 p.m. — Sal Escobedo’s Tae Kwon Do

3:00 p.m. — Hoola hoop contest

3:15 p.m — Triple Threat drum circle

3:45 p.m. — Jump rope contest

Bases Loaded February 20 at 6:00pm

February 20, 6:00pm @ Gates Elementary, 800 Seventh Ave, Aurora, IL

Baseball History 1901- to the Present Take a step back in history and meet some of the greatest players and teams that have stepped onto the field. Meet the players that have overcome great adversity and have gone onto achieve success on the field. Great stories will be shared, classic videos displayed and baseball cards wars will be played. 9 weeks will end with a trip to US Cellular Park to watch the Chicago White Sox play and a final week of splitting into teams and battle in a war of trivia.

Guitar February 23 at 4:00pm

February 23, 4:00pm @ Simmons Middle School, 1130 Sheffer Rd., Aurora, IL

Find the joy of learning guitar in a group setting with the guitar program. This is open to students in a variety of skill levels and will allow them to grow at their pace. This is a great place to start the journey toward rocking in the free world!

BiRP (Bicycle Repair Program) February 23 at 4:30pm

February 23, 4:30pm @ Fred Rodger’s Community Center, 501 College Avenue, Aurora, IL

Students have the opportunity to earn a bicycle while learning the repair skills it takes to keep it going. Donated bicycles are completely dismantled and then rebuilt over the eight week program. Students that complete the session keep the ride they are working on and also get to use their skills to give bikes to others in need. Come wrench with us!
