Triple Threat Fall Programs

BiRP – Bicycle Repair Program, teaches kids 10-13 years old basic bicycle repair skills

in a fun atmosphere…and the kids get to keep the bicycle they are working on.

Soopah Team – BMX racing team, teaches kids bicycle riding skills as they visit different

riding environments.

-kick off, Sept 16th (professional BMX flatland rider Matt Wilhelm), meeting Fridays, 3:30-5:00 Sept 24th – Oct. 22nd, meets at Harkness Center, travels to various other tracks

Record Ready – Music recording program for High School Youth, takes youth in music

group through the process of recording a demo.

The Word Up Project is a vocabulary program that uses Hip-Hop to teach the 3rd grades students new vocabulary words to increase reading comprehension and engagement. Students will listen to Hip-Hop songs, write their lyrics and then record them. The children loved this programs last spring!

Money In Motion is a program designed to teach financial literacy to middle to high school-age students. Students will learn everything from how to balance a budget to how to save money. Last spring, the children took two different fieldtrips, one to Nike-town and another to the Cougars game to learn about money from a business perspective. The child learned a ton and had an absolute blast.

Poetry
– The children will learn how to write/perform poetry and spoken word and hopefully perform in a Poetry Slam in Chicago. Each week the children will read and listen to famous and non-famous poems, songs, spoken word, etc to inspire their own work, teach them the elements of poetry and the different types of poems. This program is designed to give students a voice to express themselves and give a passion for reading and writing.
