Jaylin Fleming teams up with Triple Threat

At Triple Threat, we put extra emphasis on character, confidence and life skills.

You could say Jaylin Fleming embodies those things extraordinary well. That’s why we were excited to have Jaylin recently help lead a basketball camp as part of our BET Rap-It-Up weekend.

Jaylin is rated as the top 7th grade basketball player in the nation, which is why Triple Threat was so excited for him to share his passion and skills with Aurora youth. Check out the video below to see the highlights of our camp with Jaylin!

If you have Triple Threat on your mind and holiday spirit in your heart, then here’s a perfect opportunity.

“Five Candles” is a commemorative concert CD that compiles holiday performances from local artists. The disc, like the concerts, is a collaborative project. It features performances from nine musicians affiliated with Aurora studio Backthird Audio. Six students from a Triple Threat arts program designed the original album covers. The disc is available in six different editions, each featuring the work of a different Triple Threat student.

Why collaborate? Because art is about people. Because life is about sharing. And because Christmas is about peace – with God, and with one another.

All musicians and artists featured on “Five Candles” have donated their work free of charge, and all production expenses have been provided at a discount. All CD proceeds go to support arts, sports, and academics mentoring programs at Triple Threat.

A smashing good time

A little cold weather couldn’t keep District 131 5th grade softball teams from heating the softball fields up.

Brady Elementary capped off the day with an amazing championship run that included a title game win that went into extra innings.

While Brady took top honors, we at Triple Threat want to congratulate all the teams and coaches for an awesome effort on the field and amazing sportsmanship off it!

Also, we have to give a shout-out to all of our volunteers and sponsors who made the tournament possible!

Triple Threat Summit with BET!

It’s been about a year and a half in the making, but our Triple Threat Summit with BET is just around the corner. This is going to be an awesome event, and we’re looking for your help! If you’d like to volunteer for the summit or want more information, email us at volunteer@triplethreat.org

Meet Kaitlyn Millner

Beneath the sash and the crown, Kaitlyn Millner just wants to give back.

And the current Miss River to River title-holder has been doing that for more than a year with Triple Threat Mentoring. Whether it’s posing for photos with youth at a sports tournament or sharing her love of art at an Aurora housing authority, Kaitlyn says she thoroughly enjoys spending time with youth.

Keeping it local

Our resident artist and Triple Threat Arts Director, Nate Miller, recently constructed a bike rack for a local business in town. Not just any bike rike — but a bike rack made of bikes!

So now anytime you visit Aurora Paddle and Sports in downtown, you’ll see Nate’s handiwork in the form of a Triple Threat-themed bike rack. So stop by and check it out!

Art+Park=Fun

Just like there are countless types of trees, there are also countless types of art.
In Triple Threat’s Art in the Park program, students get in-depth instruction from four local artists. Each artist leads the course for two weeks, teaching kids about their own style of art.

Thanks to all our volunteer leaders and the kids for making this such a unique experience.
