Feel the Beat

This is for students wanting to learn to rock the drum set. Taught in a group setting they will learn beats, technique and the skill to put it all together on the trap set under the lead of one of Aurora’s best, Andrew Hix. This program is approved by Animal from The Muppets.
Piano

This is for the beginner player, students will learn basic piano skills in a fun group setting. Piano is a great foundation for learning music and finding a voice to express creativity. Find the courage to learn in the piano program!
My Story

Six high school students will learn to understand who they are and who they are becoming. They will look at themselves from 3 different perspectives (their own, family and friends). The goal is for each of them to gain self awareness, gain insight into family of origin, and learn core relationship skills. Each student will create a video log of their thoughts and stories during the sessions, to watch their growth over 1 year.
Baseball History

Baseball History 1901- to the Present
Take a step back in history and meet some of the greatest players and teams that have stepped onto the field. Meet the players that have overcome great adversity and have gone onto achieve success on the field. Great stories will be shared, classic videos displayed and baseball cards wars will be played. 9 weeks will end with a trip to US Cellular Park to watch the Chicago White Sox play and a final week of splitting into teams and battle in a war of trivia.
The Word Up Project

Students will learn new vocabulary words through the use of Hip-Hop music to improve their reading comprehension and fluency. There will be vocabulary games, dancing, writing of songs and Hip-Hop music… need I say more?
Ukulele
Krug Elementary School, 240 Melrose Avenue, Aurora, IL

Lead by the legendary Peter Hix, this beginner session for ukulele is a fun and dynamic place to learn. Basic music theory and beginner ukulele skills are taught in this group setting. The smell of salt water and coastal breeze can almost be felt as the cheerful sound of the Ukulele is played. Join in the fun!

Students will work as a member of a team to solve fun and exciting challenges in an encouraging environment. They will learn to think quickly and creatively to meet problem situations with fresh ideas and effective solutions.
Soopah Team (BMX riding team)

This is a great place for kids that love to ride their bikes. The spring session focuses on fitness in preparation for the summer BMX racing season. Students wishing to learn new bicycling skills will be challenged as they experience a variety of riding environments (skate parks, trail, dirt jumps, and BMX racing tracks) over the year. It’s going to be rad!
Step Your Game Up

Students will pick up where they left off last summer and dive right into the college application process. Students will fill out their FAFSA, receive career guidance, learn to write a resume and visit College campuses in Illinois.
Guitar
Simmons Middle School, 1130 Sheffer Rd., Aurora, IL

Find the joy of learning guitar in a group setting with the guitar program. This is open to students in a variety of skill levels and will allow them to grow at their pace. This is a great place to start the journey toward rocking in the free world!
BiRP (Bicycle Repair Program)
Fred Rodger’s Community Center, 501 College Avenue, Aurora, IL
Thursdays, Feb 23 – April 26 (Does not meet on March 29)
3:30-5:30pm
Students have the opportunity to earn a bicycle while learning the repair skills it takes to keep it going. Donated bicycles are completely dismantled and then rebuilt over the eight week program. Students that complete the session keep the ride they are working and also get to use their skills to give bikes to others in need. Come wrench with us!
Cooking
East Aurora High School, 500 Tomcat Lane, Aurora, IL
Thursdays, March 1 – May 3 (Does not meet March 29)
4:00pm – 6:15pm
Students will start their 3rd cooking session this spring! They will learn how to make breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes and how to prepare healthy snacks for the summer. As a way to give back to the community, the students will prepare lunch for a different Triple Threat program’s fieldtrip. These students are turning into quite the little chefs!
Money in Motion

Students will learn all about financial literacy from a financial adviser; goals setting, budgeting, banking, savings and good vs. bad debt, just to name a few. This session students will go on 4 field trips to local business to learn about business and finance from professionals.
Illuminate the Mind

Astronomy, Petri dishes, creating foam and building rockets… need I say more? Students will participate in various science related activities and experiments sharing the excitement that many miss in science! Students will gain self-esteem and have a better ability to tackle the science curriculum taught in school.
