WHO WE ARE
Triple Threat Mentoring is a non-profit organization that strives to empower under-resourced youth and help them develop confidence, character and life skills. Triple Threat, which has six full-time staff members, is based in Aurora but also runs programs and events in the City of Chicago.
HOW WE GOT HERE
Triple Threat Mentoring was founded in the fall of 2007 by East Aurora resident, Caleb Luper. Formerly on staff with Global Outreach Ministries, Caleb facilitated short term mission trips and sports camps in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. His global experience and faith fed his passion to serve under-privileged kids in his own community.
Poverty, drug trafficking, crime, and illiteracy present significant challenges in the youth we serve. Many of the kids we serve come from low-income households with limited opportunities for growth and development. Depleted resources for education, extra-curricular activities, staffing and leadership leave youth disadvantaged and at-risk.
WHAT WE DO
Triple Threat Mentoring seeks to be a source of hope, encouragement and opportunity to these disadvantaged urban youth. Our goal is to address the needs of youth and be a catalyst for change, one life at a time. Since its inception, Triple Threat Mentoring has partnered with East Aurora School District to serve more than 3,000 elementary students through programs and events. We offer weekly programming and special events in the areas of Arts, Academics and Athletics — hence, the name Triple Threat. We use passion-based programming to truly engage the youth we serve. In other words, we love to have fun while making a lasting impact.
Volunteers enjoy programming and events as much as the youth we serve. Our volunteers usually come from partnerships we’ve developed with the community, schools, local churches and businesses. However, we’re always looking for more volunteers. Email our volunteer coordinator if you’d like to get involved, if you want to learn more about Triple Threat, or if you’d like our programming to come to your area.
